Your application is good for a year after approval date-please text or call rescue to schedule an appointment once you receive an email back of approval at (210) 708 7109 and ask for Julie Martin. After date of adoption, with the exception of out of state adoptors, please plan to take your adopted pet home the same day or within 24 hours. If you are unable to  do so due to vacation or other obligations please do not schedule an appointment until you are fully ready to take home your new pet. We have very limited space/fosters and other dogs in shelters are on borrowed time and we cannot hold . Please plan accordingly or expect to board your new pet if you are not home-we are not a boarding facility. We look forward to working with you to find you the rigth dog when you ARE READY!

Application Process
Rescue does not hold dogs and we do not accept down payments;  upon successful approval, meet and greet will be scheduled at the rescue homestead. All applications are reviewed within 48 hours of submission and typically approved within 1-2 days, depending on availability of references. Important note: applications are processed in the order received-but we wait to hear back often from vets and references. Once approved, we call to schedule. If an applicant is not available to take our call, we will leave a text or vm but we do contact the next approved applicant-just because you are the possible first approved applicant doesn't mean the first appointment time will be given to you~it all depends on your availability and how easy we can get a hold of you. Please understand, often applicants find other dogs, lose their phones, etc. And for every minute we wait , another dog dies in a shelter. This is the reality of Texas rescue. We try to be very fair, but we cannot wait and the dog that you may have applied for may be adopted or already have an appointment by the time you call us back to schedule.
*Approval means you are deemed to be a good and responsible pet owner-it does not mean that we hold the dog of interest for you and that particular dog may be adopted by the time of your appointment-please call or text before your appointment time to confirm*
A note on preadoptions and adopting site unseen: This option is only for puppies under 12 weeks and adopters who live 90 miles outside of Boerne, TX.  Often adopters cannot travel and transport arrangements are made. All adopters living within 90 miles MUST come and meet a dog who they are adopting unless it's a puppy 12 weeks or younger. If we have a dog who is too young to be altered, the pet may go home after 6 weeks of age but must come back at 12-14 weeks of age for alteration/chip/shots.  Clinics are in Dallas, Austin, Boerne and Houston.

We believe one should take their time, adopting a dog is a big decision but know that waiting too long can mean the dog is already adopted out. Please know that rescue works hard to understand your families needs and will help find the right dog for you. More often than not, rescue is able to help you find the right dog in the near future.

Rescue reserves the right to deny any application.

Every dog has to have a collar and leash at time of adoption. If you do not have one, you may purchase one for $10.00 from rescue.

 Testimonial:

"Hi Julie, We wanted to thank you so much for your efforts to help us find a dog, and I have to tell you that yours is, by far, the most efficient operation that we have run across. You were so quick to reply, and to check out our references, and that really meant a lot. Bless you for the work you do. Please know that you are appreciated. "

Every adopter has 30 days from day of adoption to exchange for another dog at no cost in the event the dog is not working out for your family/current dog etc. If you chose to not adopt another and just return, you have made a donation. If your pet is older than six months and you need to return it but it has been gone longer than 30 days proof of HW prevention and current HW test by a licensed vet is nececssary. If the animal tests positive for heartworms it is your responsibility to treat the animal before returning to rescue. All animals at this rescue are under 6 months of age and do not require testing or are HW negative and on prevention at time of adoption. It can take up to30 days for a space to open. Please plan to baord your animal at your cost during the wait time.
